On 12 November, Fondazione Agnelli published the 2020 edition of Eduscopio.it (www.eduscopio.it) with updated data on the secondary schools that offer the best preparation for university or work after graduation.

The free online portal was first launched in 2014, with the mission to help students and their families in the delicate decision between the options available after junior secondary school. Over the years, Eduscopio has become a major reference for families and schools themselves, with over 1.8 million unique users who have visited the website to this day, consulting a total 8.7 million pages.

Eduscopio.it allows students to compare schools for the type of studies they are interested in, in the area where they live, in terms of how well they prepare their graduates for university or employment. Its success is based in the fact that it offers objective and reliable information, derived from accurate analyses of large databases. Furthermore, the portal is easy to navigate and helps anyone who wants to go beyond “word of mouth” – and especially families who cannot rely on strong social and cultural networks.

“This is a difficult moment for Italy as a country and for its schools,” the Director of Fondazione Agnelli, Andrea Gavosto commented. “Many families who have children in the last year of junior secondary school are disoriented, and may face more difficulties than usual during the health emergency, as they try to get a clear picture of what the best studies and school might be for next year. Eduscopio cannot be the only tool for a well-thought-out decision, but we believe the free information, data and comparisons it offers can be more useful than ever this year.”

For the new edition of Eduscopio.it, Fondazione Agnelli’s working group – coordinated by Martino Bernardi – analysed the data of approximately 1,275,000 Italian students, who graduated in three consecutive school years (2014/15, 2015/16, 2016/17) from some 7,400 specialization courses in secondary schools that are either State-owned or paritarie (similar to charter schools).

The analyses and comparisons available on the portal focus on two main educational goals:
