A new OECD-Fondazione Agnelli report on AI adoption in the education system: international insights and policy considerations for Italy was published today.

Drawing on international experience and evidence, the report:

  • examines how artificial intelligence can be deliberately deployed to tackle persistent disparities in primary and secondary schools, with a focus on three priorities for – and not exclusive to – Italy’s school system: preventing dropout and promoting learning, reducing the maths gender gap, supporting students with an immigrant background;
  • reviews efforts across different countries to integrate AI literacy and align curricula with changing skill demands, including renewed emphasis on collaboration skills and critical and ethical reasoning;
  • provides examples of pathways to the introduction of AI in school systems and identifies key principles to help guide decision-making on AI in education.
